We weren’t having a discussion, we were arguing. JW1 brought up another verse, Mark 10:18.

JW1: Jesus said, why do you call me good? Only God is good. Why didn’t He say He was God if He Himself was God?

KW: That is interesting because I look at this from a completely different perspective. I think Jesus was challenging the man because we only have two alternatives. If God alone is good and Jesus wasn’t God, then Jesus wasn’t good.

JW1: Compared to us He was pretty good.

I laughed.

KW: He wasn’t pretty good, He was perfect! I understand a lot of what you are saying, but what I am trying to do is understand Isaiah 44:24 from your perspective and I don’t get it. I really don’t get it.

It Has Ended

It was bound to happen sooner or later. It was 11 months to the day. My Jehovah’s Witness elder “friend” dropped me today (February 26, 2014). It looks like I’ve got my Wednesdays free again for awhile. I tried my best to keep him from discontinuing our study, but I think he already had his mind made up. He was beginning to understand my views and it is just too dangerous for a Jehovah’s Witness to start thinking on his own.

When I walked into the restaurant, I noticed that there was someone new with my Witness friend. He was a young man, but big. He had a large face, broad chest, wore a long, dark trench coat and looked like he had never heard a joke in his life. I greeted them both and we small talked a bit. I turned to the new Witness and said;

KW: So, tell me about yourself.

JW2: Uh… there’s not much to tell. I’m a Jehovah’s Witness and that’s my life.

The Image of the Invisible God.

This is part two from yesterday’s conversation. We were talking about whether or not Jesus is the same substance as the Father.

We’ve talked about this before and what my Witness friend does not understand is that the Watchtower does not teach that Jesus is the same nature as the Father. Of course I can’t explain that yet because he does not know what I know about Watchtower teachings. This forces me to pay close attention to what he says so that I can still make my point without having to show him Watchtower literature to prove it.

KW: I don’t understand how you can say that though. When I say “nature,” I’m talking about God’s eternal nature. All three of us agree that Jehovah is eternal.

JW1: Yes.

JW: But I don’t think you guys believe that the Son, Jesus, is eternal.

JW2: He has not always existed.

KW: If He has not always existed, He is not eternal, therefore He cannot be the same “stuff” that the Father is because the Father is eternal. That would mean they are not the same nature. Read More →
