Friday night a friend of mine asked if I am still shooting and that he had seen shooting videos here on our blog. It occurred to me that it has been awhile since I’ve posted any (January 22nd). The last video I posted was week one of the Bullethole Pistol League #13. This video is week two of the same league. We shot my favorite target, the Texas Star.
Notice that I have to reload right in the middle of shooting the star. Lesson learned? Yes, make sure all of your magazines are loaded to their limit before you start the course of fire.
As many of you know, I like to practice in competitive shooting. It is a great stress relief for me and gets me out of the house too. The Bullethole shooting range hosts about five, seven-week leagues during the year. Each week we shoot a different course of fire which range anywhere from 20-30 rounds per string. A string is each time you shoot the course. Some times we shoot three strings, but most of the time we just do two. The scores from each string are added together for your total score. The scores will be posted on the Bullethole web site under League shooting/League Results. I’m not sure where my score will place me, but I am sure I will be in the top five for the production division once the page is updated.
Here is my first string for week one.
I’ll try to get a video for each week and post them here so you can see how the courses differ week to week. For week two, one of the targets is my favorite- The Texas Star!
This week’s course of fire put me in third place in the production division, but second in the B class. Our team, The Deadeyes, is currently in first place with only one more week to shoot. In the B class production division, The Deadeyes hold the first (Deadeye Glen, second (Deadeye Keith) and third place (Deadeye Roy) positions.
This video shows the first course of fire for our Pistol league at the Bullethole Range. I’ve got a good start. Currently I am 5th overall, but 2nd in my division. So far only 40 shooters have shot, with possibly more to compete. I’ll have a better idea of where I stand by Wednesday.
I chose to run the course of fire as follows;
Draw and fire eight shots,
Reload magazine on the move,
Shoot the Pepper popper (14 yards away, off camera)which activates the clam shell,
Two shots on the clam shell,
Reload on the move,
Last eight shots.
All in 21 seconds. That is pretty good for me, but I’ve got a lot of work to do if I want to be fast.

Last week was the final week for pistol league # 10, the first BulletHole league of the year for 2007. Because our team (the Deadeyes) has won the league a number of times, we are no longer in competition for a team trophy. We can still earn individual trophies, but not together as a team.
This league was not a good one for me. Although I finished 10th out of more than 65 shooters, I could have done much better. Out of the seven weeks of the league, I was satisfied with my preformance only twice. Three weeks were just bad shooting and for the last two weeks my gun jammed. If I shot to my potential, I could have been as high as 5th place and earned a 2nd place trophy for my division. Here is a youtube video of one of my good runs.
