In April of this year, the Mormon Church revised its temple recommend questions in order to be more clear that there is no room for personal interpretation on garments. They are to be worn “day and night throughout your life.”
Temple garments, worn under all other clothing, including normal underwear, are viewed as a sacred obligation for temple worthy Mormons. Before members are granted access to the temple, they must successfully pass a temple recommend interview by a local leader. Members are asked numerous questions about their personal worthiness to enter a temple. Now a new revised statement will be read to every recommend seeker. It says in part, “The garment of the holy priesthood reminds us of the veil in the temple, and that veil is symbolic of Jesus Christ. When you put on your garment, you put on a sacred symbol of Jesus Christ.”
