False Prophecy Part 2 With A Jehovah’s Witness Elder

November 14, 2013 3:36 am / 6 Comments / Keith

If the Watchtower was really a prophet GoogleHe lied to me.

JW: I didn’t find anything in regards to 1975.

KW: You didn’t?

JW: Well, I did, but not really. There was never really a statement that said, “The end comes in 1975.”

KW: You didn’t find anything on your super-secret CD-Rom that I can’t have?

JW: No.

Fast forward to when I arrived home after my meeting. I exclaimed, “He lied to me!,” There are very few things for which we spank our children, but lying is one of them. After hearing my exclamation, our five year old innocently asked, “Did you pop him?” I couldn’t help but laugh. It has been a heavy morning. I needed that. Read More →

Gospel Questions For A Jehovah’s Witness Elder

Will Work For SalvationPart two from November 8, 2013

My Jehovah’s Witness elder friend handed me a sheet of paper with something from the Watchtower Library CD-Rom copied onto it. He explained that it was an article about predestination and that even though that isn’t what we spoke about last week, there was information about making your salvation sure. I guess that idea is something objectionable to him.

JW: So you think you are saved, right?

KW: Um-hmm.

JW: Remember I told you it was an ongoing process and you wanted to know how much we had to do like if we could put a number on it or something.

KW: Oh, yeah. I want to know. What do I have to do to get a passing grade?

My friend directed me to 1 Peter 1:10 which reads in the NWT, “Therefore, brothers, be all the more diligent to make your calling and choosing sure for yourselves, for if you keep on doing these things, you will by no means ever fail.”

JW: So we need to be diligent and if we don’t, then there is a big question mark.

KW: Yes, but, you can be sure. Read More →

False Prophecy With A Jehovah’s Witness Elder

November 8, 2013 11:46 am / 15 Comments / Keith
Why were Jehovah's Witnesses looking forward to 1975?

Why were Jehovah’s Witnesses looking forward to 1975?

What Jehovah’s Witness in his right mind says something like, “You know, there are people who accuse Jehovah’s Witness of being false prophets.” My Witness friend has no way of knowing this yet, but I have studied the false prophecies of the Watchtower extensively. There is no way on God’s green earth that I am going to ignore an invitation like that. Read More →

The Gospel Of The Jack-O-Lantern With A Jehovah’s Witness Elder

October 31, 2013 11:06 am / 11 Comments / Keith

PumkinBecause of Halloween, there were some things I wanted to ask my Jehovah’s Witness friend. I expected the conversation to go in one direction, but it took a completely different course. Instead of waiting for my friend to start the religious discussion, I took the initiative.

KW: What do you guys do for Halloween?

JW: Nothing.

KW: Nothing? So when you’ve got trick-or-treaters coming to your door, what do you do?

JW: (Smiling) We just say we don’t do Halloween and that’s it.

KW: Hmmm. Ok. I imagine you go door to door though, right? Because of your ministry work?

JW: Yes, but householders don’t play tricks on us.

KW: (Grinning) So I guess you don’t like it when random strangers show up at your door at inopportune times? Read More →

Philosophy And Crap With a Jehovah’s Witness Elder

October 24, 2013 12:24 am / 1 Comment / Keith

Today started quickly. Both of the Witnesses arrived before I did and were already seated. I walked into the restaurant and before I could even sit down, my Jehovah’s Witness friend pointed to a book sitting on the table in front of my spot. The book is titled, “The Bible- God’s Word or Man’s?”

KW: What’s this?

JW1: A present.

KW: A present, oh and it’s not even my birthday. Thank you. Read More →
