Cool Tool for the Gospel

December 4, 2006 7:30 pm / Leave a Comment / Keith

I recently came across a very cool tool to use in spreading the gospel. Look in our “Cool Tool” section on the right side bar and look for this.
Are you a good person?

I found one like it at on a forum and decided that I wanted to use it too. The graphic was created by Living Waters which is affiliated with Ray Comfort. If you click on this link, you will find all kinds of other cool tools to use in preaching the gospel. One of my favorites is the link at the bottom of the page which shows you how you can insert this graphic into a signature in your e-mail. I’ve included it into my ministry e-mail and encourage you to do the same as well. Right now my signature looks like this.

First shots with my new XD

December 2, 2006 10:25 pm / Leave a Comment / Keith

I know I am late in posting this, but it is better late than never. I wanted to show off how reliable the Springfield XD is right out of the box. I wanted to go shoot it the day that Fed Ex deliverd it, but I had too much ministry to do that day. Once I finally got to the range, I was not disappointed at all. My first shot was a perfect 10 at seven yards. A little higher and to the right of dead center, but a ten none the less.

My next five shots were also tens. Still a little high except for one shot that I jerked. I felt it when I shot it and was thankful that I did not jerk it as much as I thought I did. A little more and it would have been a nine. That big tear in the top middle is two rounds. It doesn’t show up on the picture very well, but there are two grease rings where the paper is folder back

I figured, what the heck, after shooting six perfect shots, I might as well just keeep shooting tens with the whole box… so I did.

This is the first time I’ve ever shot tens with one whole box of ammo. I’ve had some close ones before, but never one where all of the grease rings are breaking the line of the ten spot. I am VERY happy with my new Springfield XD.

From The Jewel Box # 6

December 1, 2006 10:46 pm / Leave a Comment / Keith

Time for another Jewel.

6/28/05- Becky opened our son’s door at the end of his “room time” to find him sitting in his empty laundry basket. He looked up and said, “The princess will find me floating down the river.”

He was thinking about the Biblical story of Moses being placed in a basket in the Nile River to be found by Pharaoh’s daughter. I thought this one was cute because our son was thinking about the stories we have read him and he is imagining himself as the main character. We, as Christian parents, are also happy that our kids are taking what we teach them seriously.

Important note: We will not reveal the names of our children on this blog. Any comment that mentions our children’s names will be deleted. It is nothing personal, we just feel that it is an important safety measure for our family. If you would like to read the other FTJB entries, click on the “From the Jewel Box” link in the side bar on the right or on the Jewel Box icon at the end of this paragraph. Come on parents! Feel free to share special jewels from your precious children. Just know that on this blog, our kids are the cutest!

Introducing The Newest Member Of Our Family.

November 29, 2006 9:00 pm / 5 Comments / Keith

There is a new addition to the Walker family. No, Becky is not pregnant and we have not adopted… a child that is. We’ve had a cat for close to nine years now, but it has been more than twenty years since I have owned a dog. I’ve been on the hunt for the right breed for a few months. Pure breeds are expensive and puppies can be a lot to handle. We decided to get an older dog and to adopt from the Humane Society of San Antonio.

Becky and I visited there on a date night and saw three little dogs together in one pen. A Beagle/mix, Chihuahua/mix and a Pug/mix. We were both drawn to the Pug/mix which had been named “Chalupa” by the Humane Society staff. I will not go into all of the details about why it took so long for us to take the dog home, but we were finally able to bring her home Monday, November, 27th. We have decided not to keep the name “Chalupa,” and wanted to name her something which reflected her character.

We asked our kids what they wanted to name the dog and our daughter immediately said, “Fencepost!” I replied, “Fencepost? That’s a boy’s name. Our dog is a girl.” I did some searching on the web and came up with a list of close to 30 names. Becky and I narrowed it down to 11 and then with the kids, reduced the list to three.

Let’s see if you can guess which name we chose. Our top three names are Brownie, Chicklet and Kisses.
